GTA IV heeft het Guinness Book of Records gehaald door zijn extreem hoge verkopen bij de release. Het spel verkocht meer dan Halo 3 bij de release. Na de eerste dag van de release haalde Take Two maar liefst 310 miljoen dollar in het laadje, terwijl dit bij Halo 3 maar 170 miljoen dollar opbracht. Grand Theft Auto IV verscheen voor de Xbox360 en de PS3 op 29 april 2008 en wordt ergens in november verwacht voor de PC.
