Andrew House, grote man bij Sony Computer Entertainment, heeft vandaag laten weten dat er momenteel 2.1 miljoen verkochte PlayStaion 4-consoles zijn. Hierdoor is het apparaat de snelst verkopende console die Sony ooit uit heeft gebracht. Een verassing is het echter niet, de vierde PlayStation ging al 1 miljoen keer over de toonbank in de eerste 24 uur in de VS. Van de 2.1 miljoen verkochte consoles staan er 700.000 in Europa en Australië.
In Europa doet de PlayStation 4 het dus ook goed. Zo verkocht de console in het Verenigd Koninkrijk al 250.000 keer en is het daardoor de best verkopende console ooit. Hierdoor zijn er daar ook in totaal al meer PlayStation 4’s verkocht dan Wii U’s. De Wii U is inmiddels een jaar uit. Volgens House is het een historisch jaar voor gamers.
